Prenatal massage

Prenatal Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts during pregnancy, such as backaches, leg cramps, headaches, edema, and sore, swollen ankles and

feet.  Massage stimulates glandular secretions, which helps stabilize hormone levels. It relaxes tense muscles and tones loose muscles, and can also increase muscular flexibility. Flexibility will be helpful during the last trimester and during the birth itself.  If you are LESS than 16 weeks (4 months) pregnant it would be advisable to receive a doctor's release to receive prenatal massage, this is mainly for high risk pregnancies, but advisable to everyone.  It is always recommended to consult your OB/GYN or prenatal health care provider before receiving massage during pregnancy.

What is the difference between medical massage and wellness massage?

Medical Massage is an outcome-based, physician-directed, and protocol grounded healing treatment.  As with physical therapy sessions, medical massage sessions are prescribed and monitored by a physician for specific issues and are limited to a physician-designated course of treatment, and can be compensated through insurance. Many health insurance plans have wellness programs that allow from 12 to 52 visits a year for massage.

So it’s a massage directed towards a specific condition, whether it’s back pain, neck pain, anxiety, muscular discomforts during pregnancy, tension headache relief, even TMJ and Bruxism relief.
